My son Todd became a vegetarian about 25 years ago, and I said, `Why are you doing that?' and he said, `Because I'll be healthier, Mother.' So I said, `I don't even like meat, so why don't I try that?' But I do have chicken or fish occasionally, and once in a while I do like a little veal. These days, she says, "I rest a good deal. I last interviewed Debbie in 1984, when she was pushing her exercise video and looking trim at 52. Reynolds says it was an extremely inspiring role, and she hopes the public will respond to its message. She has the starring role in the true tale of a high school football player who chooses to give his kidney, transplanted, to save his adored grandmother's life. ![]() So she's pleased about playing a grandmother in "Gift of Love," a new film that's part of the Showtime Original Pictures for All Ages series, premiering Sunday at 7 p.m. Grace's uninhibited TV mother on NBC's "Will & Grace" is the real-life grandmother of Carrie Fisher's 7-year-old daughter. She looks (thanks, Billy Crystal) mahvelous. She's softer, sweeter than her screen image. ![]() But, once she has sung "Good Morning" expertly, imitated Barbra Streisand (with a false wig and nose, a pretty fair impression though not as funny as she would like it to be), closed with a sweet-voiced "Tammy" that makes her sound about 18, and skipped offstage, she's pretty much like most 67-year-old grandmothers: a little tired. ![]()
